Estate Planning

int slide11At the law office of Attorney Lonnie L. Simmons, we are committed to working with our clients to manage their assets and estate, so that they may have sufficient resources to provide for themselves in the later years of life and pass on to their loved ones the results of a lifetime of diligent effort and hard work. Attorney Lonnie Simmons has years of experience drafting estate plans for individuals with estates of all sizes. Through careful planning, clients are able to transfer their assets to the beneficiaries of their choosing under their own terms and in the way that they best see fit. Attorney Simmons helps clients explore the myriad of legal instruments that are available to help protect their assets, ensure their personal and financial well-being as well as that of their family members, and facilitate the disposition of their estate upon death.

When clients come to us we provide comprehensive estate planning services. We walk clients through the initial planning phase to design an estate plan that meets their needs and then, draft the necessary legal documents to fully implement the plan. Our estate planning approach generally follows the four stages outlined below:

  1. Attorney Lonnie Simmons meets with the client to review and discuss their assets, desires, available legal options, and estate and income tax implications.
  2. Once he has a thorough understanding of his client's personal situation, he is able to prepare legal documents designed specifically to meet the client's individual objectives.
  3. He then meets with his client to review, modify, finalize, and sign the necessary legal documents.
  4. The final step may involve preparing, signing, and filing the appropriate legal documents to transfer assets or title if needed, change beneficiary designations, and put the estate plan into effect.

At the law office of Attorney Lonnie L. Simmons, we are firmly committed to our belief that no family, regardless of wealth or circumstances, should be without an estate plan. Because life can take sudden and unexpected turns, resulting in death and incapacity, an estate plan is essential, for individuals of all ages, to ensure that an effective plan is in place should unforeseen events become the reality.

Our focus is to understand each client's goals and carry out their wishes drawing on the full range of legal tools and documents available. For some, a simple will may be all that is needed to properly transfer assets at death. In other cases, however, additional estate planning documents or devices may be required to achieve their goals. Attorney Lonnie Simmons understands the ins and outs of the estate planning process, including all the legal instruments available. He also has particular knowledge of federal estate and gift tax, helping minimize or eliminate the tax consequences for his clients and their loved ones.
